Spay-Neuter Programs at the SPCA of Northern Nevada
We offer our own low-cost spay/neuter clinic for dogs and cats open to the public. To qualify, the owner must be on public assistance including SNAP (Food Stamps), TANF (Financial Help), Disability, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, QUEST, Unemployment or WIC.
The cost to spay/neuter an animal is $55-80. We also recommend that the owner have blood work done on their pet to detect for unknown pre-existing conditions, and this service costs just $30. Every animal must be vaccinated in order to get altered. A copy of vaccination records must be provided. If the owner does not have these records, we offer vaccinations for Distemper, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, and Hepatitis (DHPP), Rabies, and Bordetella (cough) for $15 each.
These are required vaccinations, and if the SPCA performs the surgery, the blood work, and all three vaccinations, you receive 10% off the total cost. We also offer microchipping for $15, and IV fluids during surgery for $30.
All pet owners are strongly encouraged to bring vaccination records with them to the clinic. If copies are needed in the future, there will be a $5 charge. So please secure your records.
